Wednesday 19th August 2020 - Biennale of Sydney

BIENNALE OF SYDNEY - COCKATOO ISLAND

The Biennale of Sydney is an international festival of contemporary art, held every two years in Sydney, Australia. It is the largest and best-attended contemporary visual arts event in the country.

Meet at the Cockatoo Island Ferry Wharf at 10am. We will spend the next couple of hours photographing not only Cockatoo Island but the many art installations there.

The art installations are varied and often strange but worth photographing.

I suggest you download it as each stop we go to has an explanation of the sculptures / art we are seeing.

For those that have not been to Cockatoo Island it is well worth a visit. Originally used to gaol convicts – including Captain Thunderbolt who escaped the island, the Island has been used as a centre for shipbuilding and the sea wall of Circular Quay was built from rock quarried on the island. I'm sure that there will be a lot more than art to photograph - it cannot get better than this - a good walking workout and culture to boot.

A stop for lunch will be had on the way depending on how hungry everyone is.
